WHAT WE'RE BUILDING
Everything at Roots is intentional.
The programs we host, the series we run, the space we hold, all of it is part of the mission. Here's what's active right now:
The Free Library
Every week, 20–30 books go out on the sidewalk in front of Roots. Every single one gets taken. It's been running since our first Juneteenth event on June 19, 2024. Over 1,200 books distributed and counting. The books are free. The impact isn't.
Books & Matcha
Every Thursday & Saturday, 1–4 PM
The Matcha Edit sets up in-store and the books are out. Come for the matcha. Stay for the conversation. → Join Us For The Next One
Roots Unplugged
Our live music series, bringing artists and audiences together in the bookstore. Because sometimes a song says what a paragraph can't.
Book Clubs
Active community book clubs meet here regularly. The space is yours. The books are here.

Roots Movie Nights
(Coming Soon) Film. Conversation. Community. Stay tuned.
Community Events
We host two community-centered events each quarter: panels, workshops, author talks, and pop-ups that create intentional space for education, connection, and resource-sharing. Past collaborators include Books & Books Literacy Foundation, Bob Moses Center, Black Men Build Miami, BankUnited iCARE, and more.
Youth & Education Programs
(Placeholder — expand once confirmed)
The mission inside the classroom and the mission inside this bookstore come from the same place. More programming in this space is coming.
